I'm trying to tag my album Sweet - Greatest Hits. the thing is that Greatest Hits is a very common album name and when i use the tag source musicbrainz, it returns with the maximum of 40 results. i even went to change the application data (c:/ -> Application Data\Mp3tag\data\sources) to 100 results and even then the results don't show. if i try any more than 100, it shows only 25 results.

any way to fix this? and yes the album im looking for exists (http://musicbrainz.org/release/711d8559-b049-4502-9732-e5587836b829.html)

Most of us have grown accustomed to applications that allow us to change the buttons on the tool bars. Can we get that capability in the next release? I'd like to be able to add things from under the tag sources menu and from under the tools menu so that I can make them a 1 click action, especially for things I do frequently. ie I'd be happy as a pig in stuff if I could click a button for lyricwiki tagging instead of traversing menus.

Amazon MP3 Albums

Hi, everyone! (Tach, zusammen!)

First, an unavoidable stream of praise for this astounding program. It is one of the rare tools where you think at some point: "Now I could use this special function", then poke around in the menues and discover that the special function is already there!

Absolutely amazing!

And now to something completely different: I am playing around with the Amazon.de source file and thought I could add support for MP3 albums. I tagged a row of albums this afternoon and discovered that one of them is not in "Music" but only in "MP3Download".

Changing "SearchIndex" to "MP3Downloads" is working O.K., the album is found; but there are no tracks given in the response for ItemLookup.
After digging in the Amazon WS API it turned out you have to query for the ASINs of the album first, and then get the track title by querying each track ASIN separately. I think I can assume this is not covered by the mp3tag script structure; if I get it right, only two calls to URLs are possible.

Then I thought I could just use the preview URL instead of the Webservice for the track title list. But when I changed [AlbumUrl] to "http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/" and tried to run it with the data, I get a strange DNS error when selecting an entry in the search result window. Is it possible that there is additional data appended to the URL like access key, signature etc. in the background?

You would need that for the webservice obviously, but my AlbumUrl is plain http, right?

Here is the error message box:
http://www.draisberghof.de/files/fehler_amazon.png

Thanks!

Feature Request -- Web Source Errors

Hi,

I have 2 requests which will make Web Source development and Usage more predictable:

1) Today, from an end-user's point of view, if there is an error in retrieving some information from a source (for whatever reason), the user can only be notified of this by looking at the last tag in the "additional information" box of the "Adjust Tag Information" pop-up. This is an issue when there are many tags in that box, resulting in the user having to scroll to the very bottom to ensure none of the tags say "error."

Can we please have a place in that window where it would show clearly that an error occurred in the script? That will allow the user to either look for the error, or back-out. This makes the experience more user friendly.

2) Unless I'm totally missing it, there is no way to test if "findinline" command did not find what I was looking for. If it doesn't, the script errors out. Can we be allowed to check for the return value of findinline, or some other way of ensuring that findinline actually found what we were searching for?
The "hack" workaround for this today is to use "findline" and then "findinline", but this means that we are MUCH more reliant on knowing the first string in that line (if the string we are searching for is NOT the first string). Otherwise, the scripts will fail with any change to the source.

Thanks,

New Feature: Edit WAV file tags

MP3Tag Feature Request: Please add the ability to edit tags in WAV files.

Background Information: Every week, I create one or two Audacity projects. Each project produces ~200 audio files (~100 WAV files for archival CDs and the same number of MP3 files for my music server).

When saving (exporting) WAV files, Audacity v1.3.x puts metadata tags in each WAV file, just as it does when saving MP3s. Then, when I use Nero Burning ROM to create an Audio CD from those WAV files, the Title and Artist tags appear automatically in the respective CD Text fields.

To write the tags on all of those MP3 files, I use a pipe-delimited text file with MP3Tag's "Convert > Text file - Tag" command; this feature is GREAT (that is why I donated )! If MP3Tag could also do this with my WAV files, I would gladly donate again.

Thank you again for MP3Tag,
Rich

"www" tag is not read & written correctly in v 2.46b

The "www" tag causes massive problems at the newest mp3tag version (2.46b)!

In ID3v2.3-Tags www-tags are not read by mp3tag. Even with files which I have tagged with an earlier version of mp3tag (most of my files). The tags are still present, because I can read them with my mediaplayer (foobar2000).
When I edit these files with mp3tags the www tags get lost (they don't appear in foobar anymore).
When I write a new www tag with mp3tag, it simply disapears at saving.

I noticed by chance that ID3v2.2 & ID3v2.4 www tags are still read correctly by mp3tag. But when I edit them with mp3tag they are transformed to ID3v2.3 tags and the www tags get lost.

I also found a file with a ID2v2.3 (ID3v1 Lyrics3v2 ID3v2.3) with a www-tag displayed at mp3tag. At saving, the www-tag disapeared in mp3tag, but it is still there in foobar. The tag type ID2v2.2 (ID3v1 Lyrics3v2 ID3v2.3) is not altered to something else.
When i edit the www-tag in foobar, it re-apeares in mp3tag. But only if I edit the www-tag, not if I edit another tag in the same file. In both files, the tags are transformed into ID2v2.4 (ID3v1 Lyrics3v2 ID3v2.4) tags by foobar.

After more searching i found now some files with ID3v2.3 (ID3v1 ID3v2.3) tags with correctly displayed www-tags. At saving they disapear, but are still there in foobar.

So, putting all together I must say that I have no idea when the problem occures. But I'm sure it wasn't there in mp3tag 2.46a.
It's rather annoying, because I constantly loose information when i re-tag old files and I don't get full information when i run my web sources scripts which all write the www-tag. So I will use the v2.46a until this is solved.

odd values in some tags (how to fix?)

Hello, I have almost completed my library organization thanks to the great mp3tag (and of course thanks to you), but I have noticed there are some files with odd values in tags:
A lot of files have no LENGTH tag (right click on file and "Tags..."), and show 00:00 in length field on mp3tag and player, but they can be played fine (I use musicbee and wmp11). Those files usually have no bitrate or mode (mode field is empty, no "Stereo" or else) info in mp3tag. But many other files don't have length tag but show wrong length on mp3tag and player, and they can only be played till the player expects the end, even if there is song remaining, or don't play at all.

Are there any way to fix these values without re-ripping?

Also I realized that when I cut the tags of a group of files there appear other tags under them, cut tags are not empty. May be I cut id3v2 and ID3v1 tags are showing?
In mp3tag settings I have only enabled reading and writing ID3·v2, and removing id3v1 and APE. I'd like to have only id3v2.3 tags, so what should I do?
1- Select the file and use "remove tags". This will not remove id3v2 tags as this option is unselected or will it remove all tags?
2- Select files, cut tags, then remove tags, and finally paste cut tracks?

I thought right click on files, select "tags.." and remove unwanted fields would be enough, but I see it's not.

I wish somebody can help, thanks for your time.

By the way, Do you share your music library tags with any online service like cddb?
I think it would be nice that other people can do in seconds what I did in too many hours, once tried to share with cddb, but I think it is complicated and a bit useless, as adding or removing a tag will chage file's CRC and so it will no be a so automatic process.
