A few newbie questions on Filename order of Options

I'm trying to extract the Title and Artist from the filename:

Example: A Broken Heart Can Mend - Alexander O'Neal.mp3

I haven't had any success when the Title comes before the Artist in the filename.


Questions:
Are the $ variables assigned to a specific placeholder?
If so, in what order are they read?

Any explanation or examples of logic to help me with issue would be greatly appreciated.

Just use "Convert > Filename - tag" with format string %title% - %artist%
