[F] "Geistertags"

Hallo Florian,

~ Florian

Hallo,

Mein deutsch is zu schlecht, also gehe ich weiter auf english... sorry !

From what I understood in this thread, petit prince had this problem with MP3tags, and the problem should be solved by now.

Well, unfortunately, here's the problem that occurs to me today :

  • MP3Tag 2.23
  • Musepack file
  • Displays fine in MP3Tag and foobar2000
  • the famous PETAGEXÐa is displayed in Winamp
...looks like the MPC plug-in of winamp is wrong... can you do something about this ?

TIA

MLL

Hello!

Florian is only developing MP3Tag, not the in_mpc plugin for Winamp. Try contacting the authors of that plugin.

Regards,
Sebastian Mares

Sebastian is right - but maybe I can contact someone via IRC. AFAIK there is no developer for the plugin at the moment.

Can you send the file to my support email address?

Best regards,
~ Florian

I'd be glad if you can.

My plug-in version (0.99d) quotes (in the about window) http://www.musepack.tk/ and http://www.saunalahti.fi/~cse/mpc/winamp/.
The latter says version 0.99d -alpha- dates from 2003-09-07... :frowning:

IMO, Case is the guy to be contacted about this.

On its way. thanks

On its way. thanks

The file has some invalid APE Tag in front of the valid APEv2 and ID3v1 Tags - this is causing the display problems with the Winamp MPC plugin.

To fix these files, you can open the file with a Hex Editor and remove all from the first occurence of APETAGEX (including this string).

~ Florian

Thanks for the tip !

FWIW, PowerGREP (a shareware) does a great job at repairing these files en masse.

Now, I wonder why MP3tag (and Foobar2000) is fault tolerant to this kind of problem (while the winamp plugin is not). Some kind of detect & repair function (in MP3Tag) would be gladly welcome !

Cheers,

MLL

I'll leave the fixing for PowerGREP
