I'm wondering if it's possible to come up with an action group that would always cause Mp3tag to write file tags so that the files' timestamps are updated to the current time. This particular application is only needed for Flac files.
It's not hard if you use two simple Action Groups and execute them in succession (e.g. add a bogus field, then remove it). But doesn't seem so simple with a single action. Mp3tag generally is smart enough not to update a file if it doesn't think anything is being changed. But of course I haven't tried everything. Any ideas? |

... always cause Mp3tag to write file tags so that the files' timestamps are updated to the current time. ... See dialog "Mp3tag Options/Tags". There is a checkmark field regarding Timestamp. Try it out. DD.20080604.0848.CEST -------------------- * Beyond that, don't ask, when you don't know what to do with the answer. *

See dialog "Mp3tag Options/Tags". There is a checkmark field regarding Timestamp. Try it out. Thank you, but no, that's not what I'm after. I'm looking for a way to update only the timestamp within Mp3tag without modifying tags. What I'd like is to have the same timestamp on all files in an album when I've finished tagging it. If I perform Mp3tag operations on files one at a time or in groups, as is common with Various Artists type albums, then I'd like to go back when done and set all the files' timetamps to the same value. I can do this outside of Mp3tag with a file attributes changer add-in for Windows Explorer, but it would be more convenient to do from within Mp3tag instead. Not a big deal, but I thought someone might have a clever way of doing this. |

The following action group updates the modified date in my tests:
Name of action group: Update modified date Action #1: Action type: Format value Field: MYDUMMYFIELD Formatstring: - Action #2: Action type: Remove fields Fields to remove (semicolon-separated): MYDUMMYFIELD -------------------- There are 10 types of people in this world: those who understand binary, and those who don't.
