Hi there,
I have installed mp3tag to my new pc which is running windows 7 64bit. When scanning a directory of mp3-files, the process hangs after roundabout 800 files (stops counting) and never comes to an end. Is there anything special to be done with win7.64? I have also tried to start as administrator but no help. |

Maybe you can find the file that causes the hang?

Must be a problem elsewhere, I run Win 7 64bit and have no issues with mp3tag.

Hi, I'm having a similar problem.
The program is installed in Windows 7 and music is stored on a separate QNAP Nas. When scanning the file the progress bar gets to around 30-35% of the way through then just hangs. There are 4500 tracks in the library, all Flac files. I know it's a bit vague, but any one got any ideas? Cheers! Mark |

Has anyone found why is this happening?
I have Win 7 64b and the mp3tag don't even starts, hangs forever on start up.. Killing it in process manager it seems a bit diffucult too, because it still stays forever there. Please fix the problem with mp3tag, I really miss using it. This post has been edited by disco: Feb 4 2012, 17:37 |

... think that intercepting a kill signal is not a good ideia... How do you know the developers have done that? Have you investigated your environment? W7 ist particularly autistic during network access and harddisk operations. On the same line it allows more or less everyone to access files - esp. if WMP is involved. Marauding access rights, slow network connections, external drives with a mind of their own... so many possibilities to slow down the system. Could you check, if the "hanging" also occurs if you do not open MP3tag via the Explorer context menu but open the folders/files from within MP3tag (and its functions to access the filesystem)? On several occasions modifying ones workflow solved the problem. -------------------- 42 - wie war die Frage / what was the question / comment était la question

I'm having a similar performance issue here: Win7 x64, DELL Vostro laptop, 20 months in use.
Have been using several progressive versions of mp3tag on this machine without problems. Only the past few days (no Windows update took place, no new 3rd party software installed) the writing of mp3 file tag info started acting very strange. Track numbers and song titles would suddenly take forever to write to the file, freezing the app and/or concluding with an exception message "Failed/Cannot write to file <...>.mp3". I tried starting mp3tag from the desktop shortcut instead of using the context menu, this "relieves" the situation for a short while but after a handful of tagging operation the misery starts again. I tried disabling the virus scanner (McAfee) but this also made no difference. Help...! My productivity at tagging files dropped to near zero! Kristofer |

No suggestions, but I can report that I have a dell laptop running win7(64), with all updates and a dell desktop running win7(64) with all updates. I use mp3tag on both machines and all works perfectly. So whatever this problem is, it is not something specifically related to use of win7(64).
edit: about 70,000 files, Mostly FLAC, some mp3 and AAC.... This post has been edited by garym: May 16 2012, 02:03 -------------------- Players: Various Squeezebox Network Music Players for home; iPad and iPhone for portable

....Help...! My productivity at tagging files dropped to near zero! Kristofer I can only repeat that you try this: Could you check, if the "hanging" also occurs if you do not open MP3tag via the Explorer context menu but open the folders/files from within MP3tag (and its functions to access the filesystem)? On several occasions modifying ones workflow solved the problem. And give feedback? Also: Even only opening the folder at the same time in Windows Explorer sometimes blocks decent file access as the Explorer tries to update its thumbnails. A real nuisance. Ah yes: could you give feedback if it worked? -------------------- 42 - wie war die Frage / what was the question / comment était la question
