If you select audio files in the file-view window, you can open the context-menu via the right mouse button. The submenu Tools contains the external applications created by the user. You can launch external applications very flexible and pass different parameters to them.
You can get further information about the tools from the Help file or by clicking the Help button from Options, Tools. If you don't want to use the context-menu, you can use the keyboard shortcuts [CTRL-0] to [CTRL-9]. [CTRL-1] will start the first tool, [CTRL-2] the second, ... and [CTRL-0] the tenth. Parameters like "%_path%" should be in quotation marks, so paths and filenames with spaces are passed properly. E.g. Parameter1 Parameter2 "%_path%" This post has been edited by dano: Nov 19 2009, 11:48 -------------------- |

Example - Open files in Windows Explorer
Name: e.g. Windows-Explorer Path: You have to enter the path to the file "Explorer.exe" here. It is normally located in the directory "C:\Windows\Explorer.exe" or "C:\Winnt\Explorer.exe". Parameter: The parameters of the Windows Explorer are always seperated by comma and space, e.g. /e, /select, "%_path%" /e opens the Windows Explorer in two columns. On the left is the directory tree, on the right the file-view. Without this parameter, only the file-view will be displayed. The parameter /select marks the selected file. If there are several files selected in Mp3tag, only one of them will be marked. This post has been edited by dano: Nov 22 2009, 14:30 -------------------- |

Example - Play/Enqueue files in Winamp
The selected filenames should be enqueued in Winamp. Name: e.g. Enqueue in Winamp Path: You have to locate the path of the "Winamp.exe" file. E.g. "C:\Program Files\Winamp\Winamp.exe". Parameter: Winamp: /ADD "%_path%" foobar2000: /add "%_filename_ext%" And tick "for all selected files". This post has been edited by dano: Apr 9 2010, 18:59 -------------------- |

Example - Web Browser
Search web sites for informations about your artists or albums. Since version 2.20 you can use tag fields like %artist%, %album%, ... as parameters, too. Name: Name of the website, e.g. All Music or Google Path: You have to locate the path of the your desired Browser's exe file. E.g. "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe". Now some examples: Parameter for Artist search on Allmusic.com: CODE http://www.allmusic.com/search/artist/$replace(%artist%, ,+) Parameter for Google.com: CODE http://www.google.com/search?q="$replace(%artist%, ,+,&,+)" You can of course add many more websites, but each will probably have its own search parameters, so you have to find that out by looking in the html code. Example - Navigation Enhancement
Here is a trick to improve the navigation a little. Be sure to have a recent version of Mp3tag. This will give you the possibility to double click on a file in Mp3tag and open it's folder in Mp3tag. Name: Browse folder Path: Please locate the path of your Mp3tag.exe Parameter /fp:"%_folderpath%" Finally you must select "Browse folder" as default program on double click.
