I can't connect to the freedb server. What can I do?

First of all, make sure that your firewall doesn't block access to the internet for Mp3tag. If you are sure, that HTTP access is allowed for Mp3tag, you can switch to another freedb mirror at Options > freedb > Server. If you have still problems with accessing freedb, increase the timeout value at Options > freedb > Server to 10 and try again.

How do I use a *.src file?

Copy or move the *.src file to the profile folder %appdata%\Mp3tag\data\sources

You can also just execute the openSourcesDirectory.bat file that automatically opens the correct folder. It either comes with the *.src file or can be downloaded from here.

You can now use the script from the Tag Sources menu or from the mt_freedb.png button.

Please visit the Web Sources Forum if you are interested in more scripts.

Profile folder

Location of the profile folder:

Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\{user name}\Application Data\Mp3tag
Windows Vista, 7, 8:
C:\Users\{user name}\AppData\Roaming\Mp3tag

The profile folder is normally a hidden folder.
You can either activate "Show hidden files and folders" in the windows explorer options or use the direct path %appdata%\Mp3tag
To use the direct path, you can either use the windows explorer and enter %appdata%\Mp3tag in the address bar or click Start > Run [Windows key+ R] and enter the path.

The profile folder contains the following data:
  • Export configurations *.mte
    %appdata%\Mp3tag\export
  • Actions *.mta
    %appdata%\Mp3tag\data\actions
  • Web sources scripts *.src
    %appdata%\Mp3tag\data\sources
  • custom genres, coloumn views and tools *.ini
    %appdata%\Mp3tag\data
