freedb web search update

Since freedb has a new owner the web search is not available anymore.

It might come back but the date is unknown. (It needs to be rewritten).

As replacement you can try the freedb2 search or one of the many other sources.

(outdated, Attachement removed)

If you haven't already noticed, the freedb web search isn't working anymore.

Here is an update:

Download the attachement and extract the new freedb.src to %appdata%\Mp3tag\data and overwrite the old one.
Please read here if you have troubles finding the correct folder.

Note: You can also install the latest Development Build to get the update.

The update did not help for me. I just replaced the file, started mp3tag but i still get no results from freedb.

Can somebody help me?

thx

Apparently you've copied the file to the wrong directory. Choose Start > Run... and enter

%APPDATA%\Mp3tag\data

Copy the file to this folder.

Florian: your hint helped me.

I thought the file should be copied into "program files\mp3tag\data"
because a file with the same name (freedb.src) is there.

Many thx.

Unfortunately there was another update on the freedb web source. Please re-download if you have troubles with the freedb web search.

Hi,
I've downloaded the latest .scr and copied it to
C:\Program Files\Mp3tag\data\ as well as to
C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Mp3tag\data... no joy. Is the latest script
compatible with ver 2.12? If not, is there a Win95 compatible
version of Mp3tag that would be?

Thanks, and Dano, thanks for the heads up over at the Freedb forum.

You can try Mp3tag v2.32a from the download page but I'm not sure, if it'll work with this version (I'm not using it anymore and support for W9x/ME/NT has been dropped).

I removed the unspace command from this version since it is a rather new command.

If this also doesn't work, you can go the directory were the Mp3tag.exe is and look if there is a scripterror.log and post its content here.

Attachement removed, the problem was a different command

Thanks guys! Installing ver 2.32 did the trick. The "just for me" version as
well as the latest "official" version of the script both work. Cool!

If you're curious, the error log from ver 2.12 is at
http://home.comcast.net/~xxxyyz/Mp3tag/scripterror.log . I figured
probably no one would interested, and I didn't want there to be any
misunderstanding about whether I was still having a problem or not, so
I didn't post it.

Thanks again!!

somehow it still doesnt want to work for me, allthough i downloaded the new src file and copied it into the right folder. the same problem seems to extist for a friend of mine too..

has some one gut a clue whats wrong there? has there been a new update or something?

What do you consider the right folder? It works fine for me.

as someone wrote above, i entered %APPDATA%\Mp3tag\data and copied into this folder..

Again updated.
