I've just released Mp3tag v2.83!

This version comes with a wide variety of changes, most notably:

Support for querying Discogs via Release ID
Sometimes, searching by album or artist name simply doesn't give the correct results. This version adds a new tag source to directly search by Discogs Release ID. This means, that you can directly jump to the correct result when importing tags from Discogs.com.

Import from Amazon no longer available
Unfortunately, Amazon has closed my associate account so that importing tags via Amazon is no longer possible. A highly recommended alternative tag source is Discogs, which offers high-quality metadata and cover art.

Support for removing Nero-style tags from MP4 files
Nero-style tags are one possible reason why tags cannot be saved to MP4 files. This version adds basic detection of those tags and reporting via %_tag% if present. Furthermore, you can now remove Nero-style chapter information from MP4 files via context-menu in the file list.

Support for restricting cover export to certain cover types
The Mp3tag action to export cover-art to files now has a option to restrict the covers to be exported to a certain cover type. This means, that you can now export, e.g., all the front covers of your files in one go.

Improvements at reading and writing cue sheets
It's now possible to read cue sheets that don't start with Track 1 and many other things. If you're into working with cue sheets, you'll probably like the changes in this release.

Furthermore, this version fixes some issues which were reported during the last months as denoted in the history of changes.

You can download the new version from

As always, enjoy and take care

I wonder about Amazon support because when they close your account why is amazon.de working without any problems in old versions?

It was working also with Amazon.com for quite some time even after they've closed the account. It's just that they've probably implemented new validation which now breaks support for Amazon.com. A few weeks ago the same happened with Amazon.co.jp.

Given the fact that they've also terminated my Amazon.de associate account (.de and .com were two different accounts), I don't trust in this situation any longer and don't want to support it officially.

If you like to keep using the Amazon.de web source, you can copy it from a previous installation.

Kind regards

Just upgraded and noticed that amazon is missing, read the thread about why and understand. I made a discogs account and connected it, worked fine. But I do not understand how to now only download covers, without the tags. Can somebody point me in the right direction? Can post in support to if required, thought it might be more appropriate here.
Thanks for any help.

To only save the cover of an release right click on the cover pic in the Dialogue Box and choose extract cover, it will be saved in the folder where your files are. Then press cancel if you don´t want to update your Tags. After doing so, the cover should show up in the tag panel. Right click on it, choose add cover and save it.
I hope ths is what you wanted to know.

Hi, thanks for this. For me, when I click the link in
http://www.mp3tag.de/en/download.html
I get taken to a page
http://www.mp3tag.de/en/dodownload.html
which then has a download for mp3tagv282setup.exe - the previous version.

If I use the DE download page, I get the latest version 2.83.

Thanks for a great tool !

Thanks, that worked. Still had to tell W10 to display hidden system files though, otherwise "folder" jpgs are not displayed.
Not quite as simple as before, but who knows, maybe the "search album art" feature will get restored in the future with discogs?smile.gif

I just downloaded & installed v. 2.83a but when trying to upload coverart from Discogs the program crashes!

re: Support for querying Discogs via Release ID
when searching via "Master Release" release ID, the wrong item is returned. It works fine when the release ID of the item's actual catalogue ID.
A good addition nontheless/

This should be fixed with the current Development Build Mp3tag v2.83b.

Kind regards

I've added two cover-only tag sources for Discogs with the latest Development Build.
